Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez reported on his recent visit to Mexico via social media. He stated that he traveled to Mexico City alongside legislator Michael McCaul. During his stay, the official visited the U.S. Embassy in Mexico and met with the marines serving at this diplomatic headquarters. "I had the honor of meeting with the U.S. Embassy and the brave U.S. Marines who proudly serve there," the statement read. Additionally, both legislators reported holding working meetings at the Mexican Congress and with the governor of the state of Guanajuato, Libia Dennisse García Muñoz Ledo. In response, the Mexican Embassy in the U.S. reacted to the statement by legislator Gimenez. The Mexican authority stated that since the process was not completed, there was no meeting to be canceled. The diplomatic representation clarified that the meeting with the head of state was never confirmed. According to the official response, diplomatic commitments are only established when schedules are mutually agreed upon through official channels.
